Norman Ebenstein
Former President and Founder of
Capital Commercial Properties, Inc.

Brief Bio Of Norman ‘Norm’ Ebenstein

In 1928, Samuel and Jeannette Ebenstein welcomed Norman Ebenstein into the world. They raised him Worcester Massachusetts, although he was born in New York City. Throughout his childhood, he developed a connection with his Jewish heritage. Norman was a firm believer that education was important in life and he was proud of the educational accomplishments that his kids and grand-kids achieved.

Norman formed a company called Capital Commercial Properties and he was their president for over five decades. He built a huge portfolio that included a range of shopping centers, residential properties, and shopping malls. One of his most-noted achievements was the Eden Center, which his company revitalized. The center then became a social focal point, on the East Coast, for the Vietnamese-American community.

He earned a degree in economics from Brown University. Prior to that, he attended and graduated from Phillips Exeter. While studying at Brown, he met Shirley Gorlick, who he eventually married. They were married for 65 years.

Norm Ebenstein earned a law degree, too. He received it after he graduated from Boston University. When he was alive, he enjoyed a very successful career in the legal industry. He was a fan of tennis and played it regularly.

Norman Ebenstein ran a business in Boca Raton, a real estate development company. He passed away in late 2016 at his home, which was in Boca Raton. Norm’s life was remembered and he was described as someone who had a huge personality, was intelligent and who was completely devoted to his family. Not only was he a well-known businessman who was fond of his family, but he was a philanthropist who believed in helping others, which is why he created a foundation, which was called Norman Ebenstein Foundation.

The real estate developer was survived by a number of family members. This included Norm’s wife Shirley and his daughter Jamie. It also included his son Douglas, Douglas’ wife. Besides them, he left behind two grandchildren, Lori and Lisa.
